CELEBRATION by James Daw

In December 2024, Hart Shoreditch opened its doors to showcase a vibrant, festive art installation titled ‘Celebration’ to commemorate the hotel’s fifth anniversary. Once again collaborating with the hotel’s local artist in residence, James Daw, the installation used recycled materials to challenge the traditional concepts of the Christmas tree and seasonal decorations. To mark Hart Shoreditch’s fifth birthday, which coincided with the festive season, London-based artist and illustrator James Daw returned to the hotel to curate an enchanting art installation. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant 1980s Memphis Design Group and the hotel’s connection to Dubai, James’ creation challenged the conventions of the traditional Christmas tree and seasonal decorations. Utilizing mostly repurposed, recycled, and sustainable materials, this art installation immersed viewers in a surprising celebration of colour and design. James also incorporated his signature stop-motion animation, employing the wrap-around digital screens in Hart Shoreditch’s Hotel Lounge to create an immersive experience for viewers.
